Description

Bistro Felix Wine Bar is a smart wine bar and restaurant with a focus on Modern European dining. The menu is a contemporary take on classic French dishes designed by head chef Amane Mori, winner of the 2019 Western Australian Restaurant and Catering: Chef of the Year Award. Description

Dive into a kaleidoscope of open-air performances and intimate-style gigs hosted by Subiaco’s restaurants and bars over two consecutive weekends from 24 September to 3 October.
 
Within the program, you’ll discover music that celebrates many cultural and stylistic layers. From African dance to Gyspy jazz, from European folk to string quartets, from chilled folk club vibes to full-blown funk and soul. Improvised jazz meets live art, instrument makers reveal secrets and musical surprises pop up in laneways and on corners. A deco bar becomes a hub for jazz of all colours and a carpark ignites with a fusion of brass driven dance music.

Join Damian Denyer Trio for a captivating evening of jazz, blues and swing. Make sure you bring your dancing shoes!

Damian Drac Denyer is steeped in the tradition of the blues, he brings anything from a whisper to a wail singing from his horn. He has played worldwide everywhere from Ronnie Scott’s (UK) to Woodford Festival (Qld).

Adrian Galante is a great natural showman and simply a tremendous rare talent. He plays with a depth of jazz knowledge and feeling that very few attain.

Danny Moss Jnr’s bass playing is highly regarded by his peers on the International scene. The Danny Moss Jnr Quartet in Europe is now well established on the Festival Circuit and regularly plays at Ronnie Scott’s famous Jazz Club in Soho,London. It’s reputation has been built on its ‘Swing at all costs’ performances.

Led by double bassist Kate Pass, the Kohesia Ensemble serves as a
platform for Kate’s original compositions, which are influenced by her
passion for both jazz and Persian music. Kohesia Ensemble explores
unusual time structures and microtonal melodies, combining the sounds
of Persian flute (ney), percussion (daf) lute (saz) and oud with jazz
instruments for a truly unique listening experience.

Kohesia Ensemble’s show “Shahnameh: Songs of the Persian Book of
Kings” won the 2020 Martin Sims Award at Fringe World – a top tier
prize for the “Best new WA work that is destined to succeed on the
world stage.” Kohesia Ensemble released their debut album “Kohesia” in
2018, and was nominated for 2018 WAM Best Album, Best Jazz Act and
Best World Act. Kohesia Ensemble has performed at an array of
festivals including National Folk Festival (ACT), Illawarra Folk
Festival (NSW), Fairbridge Festival, WAMFest, Perth International Jazz
Festival, King Street Corner Pocket Festival, Margaret River Guitar
Festival and Nannup Music Festival.

Kohesia Ensemble Ensemble includes a stellar line-up of Australian and
Iranian musicians: Daniel Susnjar, Ricki Malet, Esfandiar Shahmir,
Reza Mirzaei, Chris Foster, Mike Zolker, and Marc Osborne.

The Electric Django Quintet, co-led by bassist Pete Jeavons and guitarist Lachlan Gear, performs repertoire from Django’s bebop period alongside compositions by others who were heavily influenced and inspired by Django such as Wes Montgomery, George Benson, Bireli Lagrene and more.

Featuring fleet-fingered guitar work from Lachlan Gear, some original arrangements by Pete Jeavons supported by Perth’s finest jazz musicians (Adrian Galante - clarinet, Harry Mitchell - piano, Daniel Susnjar - drums), The Electric Django Quintet has all the ingredients for a great night of jazz that is sure to please.

TVQ's compositions can be fun and cheeky while at the same time take you on a journey through a wave of emotions.

This project started in 2016 as an outlet for creativity and launched its debut album Introducing TVQ in April 2019.

TVQ draws upon influences spanning Bill Evan's harmonic lushness, Art Blakey's fire, Hiromi Uehara's flare and Keith Jarrett's emotion.
