James Berlyn, Artistic Director of WA Youth Theatre Company, devises a new work that celebrates the human capacity for adaptive resilience, set to original music by composer and WAAPA graduate Tristen Parr. Dancer/choreographer and LINK graduate Bernadette Lewis comes full circle to create a new work that explores dance as ecology, as community, as culture. West Australian Ballet presents a beautiful, life-like doll and two bickering young lovers create comic chaos in this captivating ballet. Coppélia is a co-production with the West Australian Ballet and Queensland Ballet. Coppélia is one of the most frequently performed and well-loved comic ballets around the globe. As George Balanchine put it, "Just as Giselle is ballet's great tragedy, so Coppélia is its great comedy". The duration of the Ballet is two hours and 20 minutes, including intermission and is recommended for an audience of four years of age and over, with tickets ranging from $30 to $145.

This free festival is created by the Dardanup Community to celebrate the diverse offerings of the Dardanup region. It is a great low cost day out for families with over 150 market and food stalls, live music and demonstrations, a monster kids craft marquee and plenty of animals!
 
Other attractions include the Tastes of the Ferguson Valley tent, trash and treasure stalls, Die cast toys and mini trains and of course the Wespine Fire Sculpture.
 
The festival's spectacular finale is in the evening. Live entertainment is provided until the lighting of the Wespine Fire Sculpture which is always built by a local artist. Hear the crowd roar as the ‘bull’ burns!

Description

Danced by WAAPA students with LINK Dance Company, this is the first time Tannhäuser Bacchanal will be performed outside of Germany and the first-ever performance of Pina Bausch's work in Perth. Widely considered to be the precursor to Bausch's famous The Rite of Spring, Tannhäuser Bacchanal will be taught by leading artist-in-residence Barbara Kaufmann supported by Marigia Maggipinto, both long-standing members of the Tanztheater Wuppertal. The Minderoo Foundation is proud to partner with WAAPA to bring these world-class arts practitioners to Perth as part of the Visiting Artist program. Performed by: 2nd and 3rd Year Dance students with LINK Dance Company Pina Bausch is one of the most important choreographers of the 20th century.
