Seamus is a choreographer, visual artist and educator. After a professional classical ballet dance career in Europe he performed and taught contemporary dance, art and theatre and was artistic director of Fieldworks Performance Group in Perth. He now calls Dunsborough home. Lynn Boon discovered contemporary dance at age 20 in London and enjoyed 15 years of dancing, teaching and choreographing in UK and Europe. She has had her own dance and music company and after a long hiatus after moving to Australia, she returned to dance 5 years ago, performing in Perth and Albany-based ensembles. Danielle Phipps donned her first dance shoes at 4 and has enjoyed 30 years as a student, teacher and professional Spanish dance performer. She has studied and performed with numerous internationally renowned artists. Danielle runs Naturaliste Spanish Dance and teaches Pilates in Dunsborough. Caroline Jensen’s love for ballet began in South Africa at age 3. She has trained professionally in ballet, contemporary, Spanish and National Dance. She ran a large studio in South Africa before moving to Australia and began Dunsborough School of Ballet in 2006. She is also a keen yoga practitioner. In February 2021, Co3 Contemporary Dance presented ARCHIVES OF HUMANITY at the State Theatre Centre of WA. Devised and directed by Artistic Director, Raewyn Hill and commissioned by Perth Festival, it celebrated community and explored ways individuals respond and care for each other in a crisis. It featured an inter-generational cast of 21 dancers plus a remarkable set of over 1500 fabric birds hand-made by members of our WA community using their own recycled clothing. The intent was to collect from individuals their written stories reflecting the life of the garment, immigration and isolation during the evolving pandemic. The stories were then displayed on a wall for audiences to read as they entered the performance and the birds united, soared above as a collective symbol of endurance and hope. Through Co3's free touring program called Under the Same Sky, Margaret River audiences will have the opportunity to attend a free screening of this highly acclaimed world premiere production, ARCHIVES OF HUMANITY. Bookings are essential via the Arts Margaret River website.

Description

Interviewing and dancing with their Dads revealed secret headphone and tambourine routines, African Dance lovers, 1960's garage party dancing and so much more. The dads won't be busting their moves on stage in Dads, but audiences will hear the interviews recorded by their sons and daughters, and their musical preferences form the soundtrack to the show. The team have taken inspiration from their family histories, memories of dance, and their own experience of being professional dancers. It's not all daggy dad dance moves, although there's a few, but a beautiful foray into the layman's perspective on art. DADS was shortlisted for the 2017 Australian Dance Award for Outstanding Achievement in Independent Dance. "Rather than being a light-hearted surface-skate across embarrassing dad anecdotes, DADS ventures a subtle enquiry into male frailties. It challenges stereotypes of paternity and masculinity and exposes a charming vulnerability in older men. It also uncovers seams of Sydney's social history and multicultural character, audible in the many accents and historical expositions evident in the soundtrack. DADS, manages to link contemporary and social dance via a touching exploration of the parent-offspring relationship." Tony Osbourne, RealTime
