They say laughter is the best medicine, and there’s no shortage of it in WA. While the biggest international comedy acts regularly pack arenas and theatres in Perth, the city has a booming underground scene with performances happening almost every night of the week. Events such as Perth Comedy Festival, Just For Laughs, Fringe World and RAW Comedy feature hundreds of acts, while festival roadshows deliver laughs to locations across the state.

Description

A comedy festival isn’t complete without an aggressive Australian telling jokes in a hilariously threatening manner, baring all with the type of truth usually reserved for therapy sessions. Enter the mind of Shooter if you dare – as he breaks down walls with his bare hands (metaphorical bricks on the walls of social norms, he’s not doing house reno’s).

Since starting out in stand-up 2007 this country South Australian lad has made a global name for himself – from living in LA back in the day, where he was somehow entrusted to attend events and interview A-List celebs on the red carpet for FOX FM, to being flown back there some ten years later to shoot with comedy legend Sacha Baron Cohen to starring in a zombie movie with Jim Jefferies and selling out Australian, Edinburgh Fringe and New Zealand seasons year after year.

Allow (internet) famous comedian Alex Williamson (1.3mil Facebook, 586k Instagram, 625k YouTube, 17 Tinder) & his crude yet sharp persona to make you laugh, think, & possibly even cry (if he squirrel grips a front row patron).

Daniel Sloss: Hubris

Daniel Sloss': HUBRIS is the all-new, 11th solo show by Scotland’s international comedy superstar, hot on the heels of his ground-breaking, global smash-hit ‘Daniel Sloss: X’.

Description

Lauded by the ancient Greeks, hubris is the devastating, dangerous and of course exciting characteristic which often led to the hero’s downfall. So exactly how do you follow a global smash-hit juggernaut tour of 300 performances across 40 countries? With a phenomenal new show that doesn’t have a theme or a twist or require any trigger warnings. ‘Daniel Sloss: HUBRIS’ is the next chapter in this odyssey.

The extraordinary ‘X’ tour toured non stop for 17 months across the globe, with extra dates also selling out as fast as they could be added  – throughout Europe, UK, U.S., Canada, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan and even packing a Moscow arena (becoming Russia’s biggest-ever English language comedy show). The film of ‘X’ is now showing on HBO in U.S. and Canada and became the first UK comedy special to make its UK premiere in cinemas, with its nationwide release at Vue.

Daniel’s previous two Netflix specials ‘DARK’ & ‘Jigsaw’ are streaming in 190 countries, 26 languages with the infamous ‘Jigsaw’ now credited with breaking up over 75,000 couples and cited in over 130 divorces world-wide (with fans even bringing their divorce papers for him to autograph at shows).

He has sold out six New York solo off-Broadway seasons, appeared on U.S TV’s ‘Conan’ ten times, broken box office records at the world’s biggest arts festival in Edinburgh and toured in over 50 countries.

Description

Hitting the road this May, multi-award winning YUCK Circus are championing the female voice and having a bloody great time doing it with Regional Arts WA and Act Belong Commit’s latest Lotterywest Shows on the Go tour. YUCK Circus is a 6-strong crew of elite acrobatic gals, ready to flip off double-standards and kick art in the face. They’re not lightly throwing around women’s issues-they’re literally throwing women! Let’s get into the grit of it: they’re coming for your ‘female standards’ and rough Aussie norms. Their award-winning Western Australian company of circus chicks are tackling the uncomfortable through dance, circus, and beaut comedic timing. YUCK is fun for the faint hearted, the strong willed and the everyday battler. YUCK’s here to show the humour of the trials and tribulations of what it’s like to be a young woman growing up in Australia. But don’t get them wrong, this isn’t a girls-only, no boys allowed show. They made this content relatable through comedy gold and crazy flips, so that even Dazza from down the road will have a good time.
